As the July Business of the Month, Teresa Revels was able to share information about Farmers Insurance with those in attendance at this month's Chamber meeting.
Mayor Mike Dickinson and Mayor Pro-tem John Baladez addressed developments in the City of Bertram, stating that the Comprehensive Master Plan was not a budget, but a tool to direct growth for the future and seek funding. As part of the Capital Improvement Plan, they are looking at the coming growth and how it relates to the need for improvements in the city's infrastructure.
While there are developers making inquiries about housing communities, apartments, and commercial businesses, each developer will have to meet the requirements set forth by the city prior to development being approved. Water is one of the most important issues for any new developments and certain criteria must be met.
They both welcome any questions or concerns the citizens of Bertram might have. "Open dialogue and transparent government is what the city wants," says John Baladez.
Mike Dickinson added that the city government is working on maintaining the "smalltown feel" of the downtown area, as that is something many residents have stated is important to them.

Ladies... don't forget to get your ticket for the Women In Business Summer Social presented by the Burnet and Bertram Chambers of Commerce. This event will be held at Wedding Oak Winery this Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, which includes a flight of wine and creating custom herb-salts to take home.
The First United Methodist Church will be hosting a Hamburger Lunch at the Bertram Community Center on Sunday, August 6th from 11:30 - 1:30. All donations from this lunch will benefit the Bertram Elementary School to help with back-to-school supplies and other needs.
