MONTHLY NEWS

Things have been busy for the Chamber of Commerce and the community of Bertram this past month, especially for the Art, Herb & Wine committee that have been working diligently to make this year's event great. There will be some awesome vendors selling their wares, along with delicious food and drink, all to enjoy while being entertained by some fabulous music. Make plans to spend the last weekend in April with us at the Art, Herb & Wine Festival in downtown Bertram.

Please consider signing up to volunteer for one or more shifts during this event. Much help is needed to make this festival run smoothly. Visit the Bertram Art, Herb & Wine Festival Facebook page to find the sign-up link.

Ribbon Cutting at The Standard on Vaughan

The Bertram Chamber of Commerce would like to offer congratulations to Emily and the crew at The Standard on Vaughan, who celebrated their Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday night. The community showed up in droves to try out the delicious menu of fine food and drinks, and hear the music performed live on stage.

The Standard’s current hours are Wednesday – Saturday, with the bar opening at 3:00 and dinner service starting at 5:00. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, guests will also be able to enjoy live music. Both walk-up and reservation service is available.

Congratulations to our April Business of the Month, Fratelli Pizza, Coffee & Gelato. Formerly Fratelli Pizza, new owner Merari Yepiz added a coffee shop, which was the idea of the previous owner. They offer drive-up coffee service, with a variety of coffee drinks to choose from, along with delicious gelato.

Fratelli's is always on hand at community events, often donating coffee and/or other items. They are proud to own a business in Bertram and glad to be a vital part of the community.

Merari also recently purchased an inflatable jumper that will be housed in their outdoor dining area behind the coffee shop. This area will be for rent for parties of up to 10 children, and she states that they have party packages that include decorations, pizza, drinks, and gelato for each child. Contact them at fratelli.bertram@gmail.com to get more information or book your party.

Thank you to BCISD Superintendent Keith McBurnett for presenting the April program. This informative program was filled with information such as current BCISD stats and legislative priorities, According to Superintendent McBurnett, BCISD is ranked 2nd in teacher compensation throughout the Hill Country, as well as ranking 1st in employee benefit packages.

He also shared that BCISD has the 2nd lowest tax rate and that there are currently 53 dual credit hours being offered at Burnet High School in conjunction with Angelo State University, offering the high school students the opportunity to get a significant jump start on their college education.

Bertram Chamber of Commerce was chosen as Adopter of the Year by the Burnet CISD through the Adopt-a-School program, receiving this bulldog statue to commemorate the occasion. The Chamber was chosen for its many contributions to the school district, especially to Bertram Elementary. Chamber Directors are pictured here with BCISD Board member Suzanne Brown, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Rachel Jones, and Superintendent Keith McBurnett.
