Chamber Joins in the Oatmeal Celebration

It was all things "Oatmeal" this weekend in downtown Bertram as the 45th Annual Oatmeal Festival delighted the crowds, young and old. The 5k Fun Run had a terrific turn out in all the age divisions. The Pet Parade was too adorable to believe, with so many creative costumes for the dogs, plus one goat.

The Grand Parade was indeed grand with awesome floats and historic vehicles, royalty, and dignitaries. Oh, and don't forget those horses! There were some really neat vendor booths and all the food smelled delicious. You couldn't help but tap your feet in rhythm to the great music that was being performed live on Vaughan.

Kids were enjoying the Kid Zone and the kettle corn, while the adults enjoyed the wine and beer. There were treats for every tastebud. Speaking of treats, I got to judge the Oatmeal Bake-off. This was a great opportunity to sample some delicious recipes made with oatmeal. I definitely want that duty again next year!

The Bertram Chamber of Commerce was on hand to pass out hundreds of information bags to those in attendance. These bags all contained a Visitor's Guide along with promotional items from Chamber businesses.

Even "Oatie" got in on the fun by posing with a Bertram Chamber of Commerce Bag and doing a photo op beside the brand new BCofC tent. Kids lined both sides of the parade route with their red bags, courtesy of Bertram Chamber, waiting with anticipation for the candy to fly from the floats.

Between the information bags and the candy bags, it was a sea of red on the streets of downtown Bertram, and the Chamber of Commerce was proud to be a part of such a time-honored and fun community event.

And I was excited to attend my very first Oatmeal Festival. Looking forward to next year!
